Bodensee : Oasis in the Heart of Europe

Traveling in the country sometimes exhausting , especially if the distance is very far . Some times I go from Bandung to Bali by bus . Nearly one Java I passed by this trip . So no wonder we can eat in a day in different provinces . Breakfast in West Java , Central Java lunch , and dinner in East Java . The next day , we had breakfast outside Java . However , no matter how exhausting trip can be paid off with the satisfaction we feel when we arrive in places like Bali or Lombok .

Some time ago I did a pretty long road trip to the Bodensee , the largest lake in Europe . Actually I've had several times visited the Bodensee . However , what's interesting is because me and my friends could spend a full day in the three countries is the owner of the lake , namely Germany , Austria , and Switzerland .

Our trip began on the morning of the city of Bern heading to St . Gallen . I just need to spend money to transport as many as 54 Swiss francs . While still in the territory of Switzerland , then we do not need to spend any more money for the use of public transport services . From St . Gallen , we go directly to the port of Rorschach . The streets in the cities of Switzerland in the summer much improved . So , we have to rotate or change the direction of the freight train should be a bus . The roads are actually still smooth when compared to major cities in Indonesia, has to be corrected for the sake of convenience .

Lindau , Germany

13.45 German -flagged vessel to take us to the town of Lindau in Germany . It is located just above the lake Bodensee . At first glance , if the note is like an island in the middle of the ocean . Lindau town has a population of about 3,000 people and the extent of only 0.68 km ² . The population here compared with about 70 years ago experiencing shrinkage of about 2,000 inhabitants.

When our ship docked to the port , then a tower built in 1856 and the statue of a lion that has a height of about six feet to the east would invite us to enter this area . From the town of Lindau , continue our journey to the city Bregenz in Austria . What is interesting is that when we buy something at a sidewalk stand . This stand sells souvenirs from abroad , such as rings , bracelets from Indonesia or Thailand . The salesman was quite fluent in Indonesian . So we do any bargaining fights in Indonesian .

Bregenz , Austria

From the town of Lindau in Germany , we used the train to get to town Bregenz in Austria . The distance is not too far away . Just past few stations only . Bregenz City is especially important in the summer as it is today . We can enjoy the summer entertainment such as opera , musical or operetta performances on a huge stage on the edge of the lake . Even this stage is touted as the world's largest outdoor stage .

The air is quite hot afternoon . A lot of people swimming in the lake periphery . Or we can also hire motorboot if you want to go to the middle of the lake . However , many also just do a picnic or nap on the grass . While I just simply listen to the song by Jason Mraz song is so fitting with the atmosphere this afternoon .

After quite satisfied , so we decided to head back to Lindau .

Romanshorn , Switzerland

From the town of Lindau we do not return to the Rorschach , but towards Romanshorn . The city has a population of about 9,000 inhabitants. Romanshorn is a city that has the largest port area compared to other port cities around the Bodensee .

Bodensee is indeed an oasis in mainland Europe . Germany, Austria , and Switzerland , respectively share the vast lake of 540 km2 and a length of 273 km . Uptake of water in the lake , which also can be used as drinking water , reaching 48.5 billion cubic .
