Indonesian student, Yessica Asmin, was found dead after being swept away by a river in the Milford Track region of the Fiordland National Forest in New Zealand.

Yessica, a student of the University of New South Wales, Australia, was on vacation with her boyfriend Sean McNabb was the incident happened on Monday. Yessica was in the middle of crossing the river when she slipped and was dragged away by the current, Australiaplus.comreported on Wednesday.

The local authorities searched for two days before they spotted Yessica’s body, around two kilometers from where the incident had occurred.

A German backpacker, Sebastian Keilhoz, who was at the scene, criticized the New Zealand authorities for not building a bridge over the river, as if there had been one his attempts to help Yessica might have been successful.

Rory Newsam of the New Zealand conservation department said it was not possible for the department to watch over the whole forest. He said, however, his office had put useful information on the Internet.

Yessica’s family was reported to have arrived in New Zealand to pick up the body. (dic)
